All 70 ha of vineyards of Quinta Vale de Fornos are implanted in fertile clay-calcareous soils. There, we can find not only typical Ribatejo Region plane soils but also sloppy soils with a unique microclimate, which favours maturation and infers a unique “terroir” to our wines.
The white grape variety Fernão Pires (also known as Maria Gomes in the Bairrada Region) finds itself also in a unique soil and climate environment, which guaranties its optimum development.
To produce our red wines, we have chosen two national grape varieties: Castelão (Periquita) and Trincadeira; and two international grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. All of them perfectly well adapted to the characteristics of our soil.
With a strict viticulture, the alcoholic, phenolic and aromatic maturation and manual harvest allow us to differentiate between different parcels of the vineyard and obtain the selected quality raw material that we use in our winery.
Finally, to guaranty a perfect settling period, we select oak from the best oak producers, both national and international.
